This song become so popular because of the dance. Actually, Harlem Shake dance was originated in 1981. In 2011 this song become a little bit popular, but not as popular as now.
Harlem Shake become very popular in 2013 because many people uploaded the hilarious dance with Harlem Shake in Youtube. TheSunnyCoastSkate were the people who started this trend. The video shows a man wearing a helmet and dancing in normal way in the bedroom, while two people around him seems like don't care during the song intro. After 15 seconds dancing alone, people around him started to dance with him like possessed people. Hahaha. I think this part is the most interesting one. Here is the video
Indonesia also got the fever of The Harlem Shake Dance, but many videos that uploaded by Indonesian people are not funny at all to watch, especially the video of Indonesian artists who doing the harlem shake.
