Before becoming universal as now, there was a time when
certain genres of music were for marginal people. It happened in United States
(US), once music had became particular identity to particular race, which is
Afro- America (black people). That is why, it was called Music Race. These
following genres are kind of music race
created by black people
a. Blues
At that time,
black people in U.S were slaves. They were not really respected. Their right to
speak was curbed. As a result, they created music to express what they were
feeling during that time. This genre of
music is called blues. Blues was
taken from blue which closely related
to sadness and melancholy. It is because at that time, black people were
treated bad. Vionlence was often granted to them. By singing and playing music,
black people can easily release what they had been feeling. Therefore, the lyrics in blues tends to
contain anger, loneliness, and dudgeon.
The term of blues was officially used in 1910. Around 19th century
this kind of music developed widely. Then, in 20th century, the
white began to be interested in Blues. In the beginning of 1960, blues underwent decreasing of
popularity. The recording company did not want to contract American Blues
musician. So, there were many british musicians filling this empty position,
such as The rolling Stones, Eric Clapton,John Mayal dan Bluesbreaker . As the
result, the british atmosphere colored the US blues musicians.
Today, Blues
is not only for black but also all people. Blues lovers comes from all over the
world, across nations, races, skins and
occupations. People see blues as a genre of music which can be listened, sung

elapsed, and Jazz is not seen as like that anymore. Jazz became something
classy, when the musicians can express their feeling spontaneously and amazingly. That
feeling is hardly explained as Louis Armstrong stated “If you ask it, you will
never know”.
Jazz turned out popular and spreaded
to everywhere and every social stratum in U.S. in 1920’s (known as Jazz age).

the black teenagers in Bronx settlement in U.S, 1970. At that time, rapper had
not appeared yet. People at that time just had MC (Master of Ceremony) who
talked fast rhythmically while DJ (Disk Jockey) playing the disk. This resulted
